When a movie has a title like this you already know what to expect from it. Pretty similar to Shoot ’em Up, and other ’em movies, this one incorporates another element to the action and that is that noir vibe. Thomas Jane seems to be the fan of the genre (Dark Country, Mutant Chronicles, The Expanse series) and he gives one hell of a performance. He’s got that rugged detective look nailed down ever since he starred in The Punisher. The first few minutes were just a bloody beautiful mess, that really threw me off track. I was expecting the rest of the movie to be this good and gory, but it took a different path concentrating more on the story and characters. This gave it a true forties atmosphere and further set up the scene for Jane to do his gritty antics. Using so many cliches, Give ’em Hell, Malone missed out on the opportunity to create something of lasting value. This way, you can check out Malone’s adventures as an entertaining action flick with a slick look.

Malone is a classic macho private detective that is trying to get some answers and help his damsel in distress. Combine Sin City, Punisher and a standard forties detective flick and you got Give ’em Hell, Malone. Also I was expecting more nudity, but there is not that much of it. With a budget of $15 million, this movie managed to look and feel like a really big enterprise, so be sure to check it out if you’re hungry for some old school action…
