Shot two years after Clerks II and four years after that abomination of a movie called Jersey Girl, this movie should have been Kevin Smith’s ticket to the A Team. However, the movie did relatively bad on the box office, problems with Harvey Weinstein and promotion budget, as well as the title contributed to this. Smith has been trying to shoot a movie about porn since the nineties and his experience with Mallrats. Starring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, Zack and Miri Make a Porno is a great movie. Clever and witty, it also has a pretty strong and interesting main story. Of course, anything related to sex has quite the appeal. I mean, I think all of us have considered the occupation at some point in our lives. It’s the pressure of performance, at least for me, if we’re talking about reasons why I’m not banking making porn. The only problem that I would list is the cheesy love story that sort of underlines the whole movie. If you are going this far, you should go all the way and make something fucked up and not the classic movie screen ending for an average viewer, yuck, it looks too commercial. More in line with Chasing Amy than with his other movies.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno [2008] Movie Review Recommendation PosterLife is pretty hard (or pretty easy, depending on your perception) for Zack Brown and Miri Linky. They are barely making ends meet, working menial jobs and trying to stay above water. When their electricity gets turned off, a chance encounter with an old friend who’s now doing porn will put a strange idea into their heads. If they only made a porno movie, all their troubles would be solved…

With a robust supporting cast, featuring Jason Mewes, Craig Robinson, Justin Long and fucking Tracy Lords, Zack and Miri is a movie that will keep your attention and make you laugh at the same time. The main story is a source of endless jokes and gags, with two average humans trying to make a porno movie. I am certain that this is not the first movie that exploits this subject, but I am also certain that there will be much more of them coming in the future. Featuring what is now commonly known as the toilet humor, this movie might offend some, but it will cheer up many others, so get ready for an adventure!
