This is a prequel to the famous British sitcom Only fools and horses. In my opinion this is the best sitcom ever, and it is a shame that Steve Carell is trying to do an American version of this masterpiece.
It is going to be an abomination and i think that this is just another in the long line of failed attempts to remake British comedies (Death at the funeral). In Rock & Chips we follow young Trotter family. Del is just a young lad, as well as all his friends and Rodney is not even born yet. The movie deals with the conditions in which Trotters lived and it is not all fun and laughs but it is rather serious and dramatic at the moments. Of the original actors from the series only Nicholas Lyndhurst is in this movie as Freddy The Frog. So just sit back, relax and enjoy in this great flick.
