Another movie that tries to bring life to a novel that bases its story around drugs.
Although the pace is a little slower, the movie is still interesting to watch, well I guess that nudity and provocative themes did their job. The story is set in the turbulent eighties, in a upscale decadent world of rock stars, actors and other high rollers. Their life is full alcohol, drugs and sex, so it is very entertaining to watch and examine.
In this one you will have to dig a little deeper under the surface to realize the massages being sent, because the storytelling is very subtle and apparently bland. It all looks like a series of random events, but still underneath it all lies something bigger. The first brush of humanity with something that will plague it later on. Acting is average, although I must admit that Kim Basinger still managed to be good after all these years. And I did not know that Chris Isaak was also in this movie, with a pretty big role(he still looks the same although he is 53). Enjoy.
