Orphan is another movie that exploits the premise of a creepy kid. From The Omen, this type of character seems to be an endless inspiration to the script writers. I can think of a few movies with almost the same story but first that comes to mind is a movie called Godsend with Robert De Niro and Greg Kinnear. So an ordinary American family, after a loss of their third child at birth, decides to adopt Esther, a strange looking orphan. I guess two kids were not enough, so they had to go for the round three number.

Production values are great, acting also, but if you are looking for a horror movie, you are in a wrong place. This is a thriller with some strange influences of the horror genre, mostly the creepiness of the Esther and the fact that she is a kid. Script is good with an awesome twist in the end of the movie, when you see it you will know what I`m talking about, enjoy.

Fun Facts: Warner Bros. edited the movie’s trailer to remove Esther’s line “It must be hard to love an adopted child as much as your own” after receiving numerous complaints from adoptive parents and foster care organizations. The line remains in the movie itself.
