Another movie that tries to bring life to a novel that bases its story around drugs.informers Although the pace is a little slower, The Informers is still an interesting movie to watch, well I guess that nudity and provocative themes did their job. The story is set in the turbulent eighties, in an upscale decadent world of rock stars, actors and other high rollers. Their life is full alcohol, drugs and sex, so it is very entertaining to watch and examine. Granted, the movie was panned by the critics exactly because of this. You can feel that inane exercise in futility here, but there are other elements present too. The breakdown of a classical, official system of values caused by an excess of money and certainty of its continuous flow had and still has a severe effect on any star who broke out. The next thing to go is their own, internal system of values, this time with a little help from various stimulants. After this final transformation, it’s hard to predict what’s going to happen next.

In this one you will have to dig a little deeper under the surface to realize the massages being sent, because the storytelling is very subtle and apparently bland. It all looks like a series of random events, but still underneath it all lies something bigger. The first brush of humanity with something that will plague it later on. Acting is average, although I must admit that Kim Basinger still managed to be good after all these years. And I did not know that Chris Isaak was also in this movie, with a pretty big role (he still looks the same although he is 53). Enjoy.
