Eurovision Song Contest The Story of Fire Saga 2020 Movie Will Ferrell dressed as a viking superhero and Rachel McAdams in a fancy dress playing keyboards

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga [2020]

If you’re not familiar with the Eurovision Song Contest, this is the perfect way to learn more about it. And if you already know and have seen this competition, The Story of Fire Saga will be that much funnier. It marks the return of Will Ferrell as his latest movies were quite bad. I mean, I personally liked Holmes & Watson, it was exactly the movie I was expecting to see, however, I must agree on the rest of them. Will’s not the only one who made this movie work because Rachel McAdams was also phenomenal here. She’s an incredibly versatile and talented actress, not to mention gorgeous who’s starred both in True Detective and Mean Girls. She was also immortalized as a famous “stop trying to make _______ happen” meme girl.

So, what the fuck have we got here? The Story of Fire Saga is basically a Eurovision parody made with a lot of love. Each of the European countries chooses a band or a musician to represent them on Eurovision, an event that’s supposed to bring all the countries together celebrating music, passion, diversity and life. Of course, over the years, certain patterns developed and this is where Fire Saga steps in and starts cracking jokes. There will be a lot of singing and dancing, something that I usually really don’t like, but I loved it here. The whole thing was cute and charming, without those pretentious vibes that usually put me off. For fucks sake, I haven’t even seen La La Land to this day.

Lars and Sigrit have been best friends since their childhood. They share a special bond and a huge love for music. They dream of gaining national recognition and an opportunity to represent their country, Iceland, on Eurovision Song Contest. Their band, Fire Saga is going to need a lot of luck to get into the competition and will they make it is up to you to find out.

Will Ferrell’s Swedish wife turned him on to this competition and he soon decided to make a movie about it. He’s been following it for almost twenty years, attending several events in person. And you can tell that this is a passion project made with a lot of love and care. Even the executive producer Jon Ola Sand is actually a Eurovision executive supervisor. Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is a feel-good and heartwarming comedy that will entertain you. The jokes and gags are not so sanitized as I expected them to be which is a major plus.

So, if you’re looking for some pure escapism that will leave you in a good mood, I recommend you check out this movie. And if you want to make a movie night out of it check out Palm Springs and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and, of course, other Will Ferrell movies like Old School, Step Brothers, Anchorman, Blades of Glory, Talladega Nights and others. Enjoy.
