Another Alien Sequel, This Time Neill Blomkamp’s Movie NewsWelcome to the world of remakes, hope you’ll have a good time. This was bound to happen and I was just thinking how some of the cult movies released in the last century spawned such a following and status that they have their own little (or not so little) universes. Alien franchise is the perfect example for this. So lets begin with this project: First of all this is not a Prometheus [2012] sequel, but an entirely new movie, based on movies Alien [1979] and its sequel Aliens [1986]. This is all based on a bunch of stills released on Neill Blomkamp’s Instagram feed some time ago. After Neill released some of the concept art, press was quick to ask him what’s this all about and he explained that this is his personal project that wasn’t offered to any of the studios. Of course, after this interview, studious became very interested. He even discussed the whole thing with Sigourney Weaver who liked the idea. As you may remember, Sigourney said that she is willing to do an Alien sequel as long as it’s not set on Earth. This was when she was asked about the Prometheus sequel and her appearance in it.This project is still in its very early stages, so we don’t have much information about anything else, but we can guess from the artwork, made by Geoffroy Thoorens. The StoryBased on a couple of Neill’s interviews where he mentioned Alien and Aliens as the main driving force behind this project, we can guess that this movie will be a cross between those two movies and his two movies: District 9 and Elysium. So, a bit of ground fighting and terror on some unknown planet, followed by close quarters combat in the vein of Aliens and all that should culminate with the flight and fight to and in the headquarters of The Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Sounds complicated. And juicy. As a huge Alien fan, I would love this movie to happen. It’s headed in the right direction and Neill is one of the few guys who feature a real sci-fi vibe, unlike JJ and his hordes…Ellen Ripley’s MaskAs Neill so eloquently put it Oh Shit!!! Is that Ripley wearing a Xenomorph mask? In case you’re not familiar with the Alien Universe Codex, Xenomorphs are the aliens from the movies. Although we had to wait for Prometheus to bring us the flight of the alien vessels, it’s entirely logical for Ellen to strap on that helmet and fly away from all that mess. Now, this can be a standard issue mask in the future, so we shouldn’t jump the gun. However, one thing is certain, movie will feature characters that fly space ships. Who knew? Whether this is going to be a large portion of the movie or not, remains to be seen.Ripley and HicksThis pic deserves another Oh Shit!!! Are those Ripley with a suicide vest and Corporal Hicks with his face all fucked up and sporting a fashionable shotgun? Corporal Dwayne Hicks was one of the Colonial Marines from the Aliens [1986] and he was even scheduled to appear in the third part, but after so many rewrites, both him and director James Cameron dropped out. With half of his face fucked up from acid or some alien shit, Hicks is looking pretty good.Oh shitA photo posted by Brownsnout (@neillblomkamp) on Jan 1, 2015 at 6:06pm PST#ripley #hicks A photo posted by Brownsnout (@neillblomkamp) on Jan 1, 2015 at 5:49pm PSTAwesome Art by Geoffroy Thoorens #hicksA photo posted by Brownsnout (@neillblomkamp) on Jan 2, 2015 at 9:43am PSTAnd Doug Williams – maybe I’ll go back to it ….love the world A photo posted by Brownsnout (@neillblomkamp) on Jan 2, 2015 at 9:44am PSTA photo posted by Brownsnout (@neillblomkamp) on Jan 1, 2015 at 8:49pm PST#weyland corp A photo posted by Brownsnout (@neillblomkamp) on Jan 1, 2015 at 5:56pm PSTWoulda rocked.
